How can I leave a job well?
The short answer
Leaving well means making the decision and handover clear, within your real obligations and capacity. It does not require you to hide mistreatment or keep working beyond an agreement.

Check before announcing
Review your contract, notice requirements, outstanding pay, leave, and company property. Employment rules vary, so get qualified local advice if an obligation is unclear or disputed.
Choose who needs to know first and how to confirm the departure in writing. Keep the message factual. You can explain your next step without sharing every private reason.
Check where future questions should go after you leave, so a useful handover does not quietly become an unlimited promise of availability.
An imagined example
Imagine you manage a recurring report. A useful handover would name the owner, next deadline, file location, and unresolved question. Sending a folder with no explanation would leave more uncertainty.
Make the remaining work visible
List what you can finish, what someone else must take over, and what needs a decision. Agree priorities with the responsible person. Transfer only materials you are allowed to share, and keep private account details out of handover notes.
You can thank people sincerely without pretending every experience was good. If the workplace is unsafe, put personal safety and appropriate support ahead of appearances. Astrofluence can help you reflect on your next direction, but cannot interpret employment rights or promise a smooth departure.
