How do I use transits and retrogrades?
The short answer
A transit compares a planet’s position on a chosen date with your birth chart. A retrograde is an apparent backward movement in the sky as seen from Earth. Astrology attaches meanings to these patterns, but they do not set the right day to resign, sign a contract, or launch a project.

Keep the terms separate
- Transit: A changing sky position compared with a birth position.
- Retrograde: Apparent backward motion, not a planet reversing its orbit.
- Saturn return: Saturn reaching the position it held at birth, roughly around the end of your twenties and again later in life.
Saturn is traditionally associated with responsibility, limits, and sustained effort. A Saturn return can be used to review commitments. It is not a forecast of crisis or a test you must pass.
Use a review, not a ban
A retrograde theme can remind you to reread a plan, confirm an agreement, or return to unfinished work. Those checks are useful at other times too. There is no need to suspend normal decisions until a period ends.

Imagine a job offer arrives during a retrograde. Review the role, pay, hours, notice requirements, and unanswered questions because the decision matters, not because the sky makes the offer unsafe. Ask for clarification before accepting. The chart cannot review a contract or predict how the employer will behave.
