What is a personal year?

The short answer

A personal year is a yearly theme based on numbers from your birth date and the calendar year.

How to use this

Astrofluence adds your birth month and day to the digits of the calendar year you are checking. It then adds the digits of that total until one number from 1 to 9 remains. This calculation does not use your birth year. A personal year is different from a birthday-based solar return.

Use the nine themes as questions

The year runs with the calendar in this calculation, not from birthday to birthday. The themes are numerology conventions. They do not set a timetable for success.

  • 1, begin: What small project could you start?
  • 2, cooperate: Which working relationship needs attention?
  • 3, express: What idea could you share clearly?
  • 4, build: Which routine would make work easier?
  • 5, change: What could you test before committing?
  • 6, care: Which responsibility is yours, and which is not?
  • 7, study: What do you need to understand better?
  • 8, assess: What would useful progress look like in numbers?
  • 9, finish: What can you complete, hand over, or stop?

You do not have to wait for a 1 year to begin or a 9 year to finish. Let real deadlines, resources, and commitments decide your schedule.

Example

For an imaginary birthday of 18 June, the 2026 calculation is 6 + 18 + 2 + 0 + 2 + 6 = 34, then 3 + 4 = 7. The number gives you a planning theme to consider, not a promise about what will happen.

What to remember

The calculation can be repeated. The theme is a planning prompt, not a prediction.
